State of the Logos Network: September 2025
Your roundup of recent developments from the Logos community and ecosystem
Logos

Cultivating community
Logos is a movement devoted to reimagining how people connect and collaborate. Bringing this vision to life relies on the energy of a committed, creative community. If our values speak to you, we welcome your talents and ideas. Those who build alongside us are recognised and supported.
The Logos Contribute portal simplifies the process of making technical and non-technical contributions to Logos. If you have an idea for a project that leverages our tech or have something to add to the alternative governance conversation, submit a proposal via the portal, and we’ll help you get up and running.
Campaigns
Privacy in Practice
Last month, we kicked off a major ongoing initiative with Funding the Commons to support the development and maintenance of the privacy-preserving communication network Tor. The Privacy in Practice campaign aims to empower individuals and communities to reclaim digital freedoms by humanising privacy technologies through real-world stories, use cases, and tool building. Crucially, the campaign encourages the development of tools and apps that real people actually need today.
As part of Privacy in Practice, Logos is sponsoring the Resilient Activist Technology and Logos x Tor Privacy Infrastructure tracks at the RealFi Virtual Hackathon (23 Sept–16 Oct). Get involved. Win bounties. Advance privacy technologies. Learn more and register.
The RealFi Virtual Hackathon is just one of several initiatives that we’ll be running to support the ongoing development and adoption of privacy-preserving technologies. Follow Logos on X to stay up to date with the Privacy in Practice campaign.

Learning
Farewell to Westphalia
Logos Press Engine published its first book in September. Farewell to Westphalia, coauthored by Logos cofounder Jarrad Hope and author of Crypto Anarchy, Cyberstates, and Pirate Utopias, Peter Ludlow, explores blockchain technology’s application to all levels of human cooperation, making the case that overhauling our governance processes will disincentivise corruption while encouraging ongoing experimentation and optimisation.
The book is available in both physical and ereader editions via major online bookstores and as a free digital download. Read it now.
We’re calling on the Logos community to support us in bringing Farewell to Westphalia into traditional educational spaces. If you have connections at universities, libraries, or bookshops that might be interested in carrying the book, please contact Logos Press Engine.
If you’ve read it already and found it valuable, please take a moment to leave a review on Goodreads or Amazon to help its discoverability. The book is foundational to the Logos mission, and the wider we can spread its message, the more people will join the Logos cause.

Logos Press Engine
Logos Press Engine also published a new article about the Logos Circles initiative and the success of our first Circle in Africa in September. The Zanzalu Circle proved to be an ideal case study for identifying best practices for those organising their own Circles going forward. Read it now.

X Spaces
Our September X Spaces placed a strong emphasis on cypherpunk values, with discussions exploring both the defence of privacy and the creation of parallel governance structures. We opened the month with Michel Bauwens of the P2P Foundation, who spoke on cosmolocalism and its potential to enable communities to flourish.
Midway through September, we hosted Monero community members who shared their perspective on privacy, financial freedom, and activism. To close the month, Logos brought together contributors and long-standing community members for an open conversation on the transition from traditional governance structures to network-based forms of human coordination.
Follow Logos on X to listen in and join these discussions every Thursday.
Logos IRL
Logos Circles
Logos Circles are recurring gatherings hosted both online and in local hubs worldwide. Aiming to deploy Logos technologies and collective grassroots action to solve local challenges, Circles seek out opportunities to improve lives while growing the Logos community.
Learn more about Logos Circles.

September Logos Circles:
- Lisbon (3 Sept): Lisbon implemented an engagement ladder: introductory sessions for newcomers to Logos and a focused work group for those pushing forward with winnable issues. Our support for the Quinta do Mocho diaspora community continues, with Logos sponsoring the Rare Effect festival to secure an opportunity for community artists to showcase their own.
- Barcelona (9 Sept): Drew around 40 participants for open discussions on misinformation, borders, local economies, and free speech. The conversational format fostered connections, with collaborations already emerging around regional education initiatives.
- Brno (11 Sept): Conversations flowed naturally into themes like nation-state failures and the potential of alternatives. The open format sparked deep discussions, though feedback suggests some would prefer more structured talks to anchor debate. Future sessions will experiment with blending both approaches.
- Benin (12 Sept): Logos’ first community-hosted Circle was enthusiastically attended by tech founders, NGOs, and students. A group chat was created to stay connected, and planning is underway for the next Circle. FundBrave emerged as a potential winnable issue for exploration.
- Los Angeles Work Group Session (23 Sept): Following Lisbon’s lead, LA implemented the engagement ladder approach. Its first Work Group session surfaced a need for a privacy-first tool for neighbourhood engagement. Research and validation are underway ahead of the next sessions. Learn more.
- Online (Tuesdays): Our online Circles remain a key venue for sharing updates from local Circles and refining the winnable issues each of our IRL Circles is focused on. These digital meetups continue to bring new voices to the stage to share challenges, explore cypherpunk ideas, and discuss local problems through the lens of activism and community building. Join these community conversations every Tuesday on X.
Logos Circles coming up in October:
- Brno (8 Oct): Learn more and register.
- London (8 Oct): Learn more and register.
- Barcelona (8 Oct): Learn more and register.
- Lisbon (8 Oct): Learn more and register.
- San José, Costa Rica (9 Oct): Learn more and register.
- Rome (17 Oct): Learn more and register.
- Berlin (17 Oct). Learn more and register.
We’re looking to expand the Circles initiative globally and need committed, aligned community members to lead them. If want to start your own Circle, introduce yourself in the #intros channel in Logos Discord, mention where you want to start a Circle, and tag @amelia__cares. New Circles will be added to Logos Events as they form.
Parallel Society

Parallel Society is a fluid, touring gathering and counterculture convergence, rooted in each city it passes through. Core to our strategy is supporting local creative and technological communities. In Lisbon, partners such as Planting A.I.R., Rare Effect, and Arroz Estúdios embody this spirit.
PS will be supporting Arroz Estúdios’ Planting Artists in Residence, which works with emerging artists with low income or from underrepresented communities. Residents are integrated into the Arroz Estúdios community and receive mentoring from art industry professionals, as well as hands-on training in digital design. We’re excited to run a workshop for the residents, sharing our knowledge on digital rights, privacy, and how they can be defended with decentralised technology.
The residents will showcase their work at Rare Effect, one of the largest digital arts and decentralised technology festivals in Europe. Creatives from Quinta do Mocho, one of Portugal’s most culturally vibrant neighbourhoods, will be invited to showcase at Rare Effect. Once home to Europe’s largest open-air street art gallery, its legendary murals were removed by authorities, but they still remain deeply associated with the area. We look forward to supporting this artistic spirit at the Rare Effect festival.
Logos Circle: Lisbon has been working alongside community leaders in Mocho to develop winnable initiatives that can amplify its creatives and support its neighbourhood autonomy. We’re making an open call to residents to participate in the production of a short film documenting community life, with the narrative focused on bringing creatives together from neighbouring communities with whom there has been historic conflict.
A trailer for the film will be showcased at Rare Effect Lisbon alongside a Circle roundtable discussion with the participants. The finished film will be presented at the main Parallel Society event (March 6–7, 2026).
